Fulani Man Arrested for Murdering Pregnant Wife in Dormaa West

A 20-year-old woman, Barikisu, who was four months pregnant, has been brutally murdered by her husband, Mamud, a Fulani man, at Frimpongkrom in the Dormaa West District of the Bono Region. The incident occurred on Sunday, June 15, 2025.

According to eyewitnesses, the couple had a history of domestic abuse, with Barikisu suffering repeated maltreatment from Mamud.

She had confided in their landlord, Abdullai, expressing her desire to return to her hometown due to the unbearable abuse.

Mamud allegedly convinced Barikisu to return to the village with him, where he slaughtered her in cold blood while they were having dinner.

He fled the scene immediately after the gruesome act but was later arrested with the support of local authorities and Côte d’Ivoire border police. Mamud is currently in custody as investigations continue.

Medical personnel confirmed Barikisu’s death and performed a surgical operation to remove the unborn baby before her body was buried.
