Afaku was arrested on June 4, 2025, at Esiama Bheteto, and subsequently admitted to the offence, identifying his accomplice, Samuel Nickson.

Both suspects were arraigned before the court, where Afaku pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment.

He is to be deported by the Immigration Service upon completion of his jail term.

Samuel Nickson, on the other hand, pleaded not guilty to both counts and was remanded into Police custody to re-appear on June 24, 2025.

The Western Regional Police Command has assured the public that it will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that those who engage in criminal activities are brought to justice.

The sentencing of Afaku serves as a deterrent to others who may be involved in similar activities.
