St. Luke R/C Basic School Seeks Support to Expand Classrooms, Restore Grounds, and Boost ICT Access.
KUMASI – The Headmistress of St. Luke R/C Basic School, Rev. Sr. Marian Antwi, has appealed to parents, partners, and the wider community for urgent support to address three challenges affecting learning at the school.
Speaking during the school’s recent graduation and awards ceremony, Rev. Sr. Antwi said the school’s growth has outpaced its facilities, and immediate intervention is needed to sustain teaching quality and student safety.
Classroom Shortage
“Our growing enrollment means some classes are crowded,” Rev. Sr. Antwi stated. “We need additional learning spaces to maintain small class sizes and give every child the environment they need to focus and thrive.”
Compound Erosion
Heavy rains have eroded parts of the school compound, creating safety concerns and limiting space for outdoor activities.
“This is affecting the safety of our learners and cutting into the time they have for play and practical outdoor lessons,” she said. “We need help to restore and protect the grounds.”
Limited Computer Access
While the school has set up a STEM Laboratory, the number of computers remains inadequate for hands-on learning.
“Every child should have enough time to practice ICT and STEM skills themselves,” Rev. Sr. Antwi explained. “Right now, we need more equipment to make that a reality.”
Building for the Future
Despite the challenges, the headmistress said the school remains focused on long-term improvement.
“As we celebrate today, we also look to the future,” she said. “Our goal is to keep upgrading our facilities, strengthen academic programs, and instill in every learner the confidence to compete globally while staying rooted in Ghanaian values.”
A Call to Partner
Rev. Sr. Antwi thanked parents, staff, and community members for their continued support, emphasizing that progress depends on collaboration.
“Today’s ceremony shows what we can achieve when a school, parents, and the community work together,” she said. “To our graduands, go forth and shine.”
The school is inviting individuals, corporate bodies, and development partners interested in supporting classroom expansion, erosion control, and ICT equipment to contact the school administration for partnership details.
