Offinso North: Residents Demand Accountability Over DRIP Machines As Sewua-Mfante Road Deteriorates
By Dominic Duut- NobleNews
Residents of Offinso North in the Ashanti Region have called on the District Chief Executive, Hon. Caesar Ofosu Acheampong, and the District Coordinator for the District Roads Improvement Programme (DRIP), to account for DRIP machines allocated to the district.
The call follows concerns over the slow pace of road improvement in the district, despite the government’s DRIP initiative aimed at reshaping and improving feeder roads across the country.
Speaking on Asfor FM on Thursday, concerns were raised about the current whereabouts of the DRIP machines assigned to Offinso North and why several roads in the constituency remain in deplorable condition after more than two years.
One of the most affected roads mentioned is the Sewua–Mfante roads, which residents say has become almost unmotorable and urgently requires reshaping.
According to residents, the DRIP initiative was welcomed as a major intervention to address years of poor road infrastructure, but its impact is yet to be felt in many communities in Offinso North.
They are therefore demanding that the DCE and the DRIP Coordinator provide a clear statement on the status of the machines, how they have been utilized so far, and the specific plan and timeline for fixing roads in the district.
Some residents who spoke on the programme said the situation is affecting economic activities, especially the transportation of farm produce.
Efforts to get a detailed response from the Assembly on the deployment schedule for the machines are ongoing.
Offinso North residents say they expect transparency, accountability and urgent action to improve the road network.
