Kenyasi No.2 Manhemaa Bans ‘Sodoɔ’ Funerals

The Kenyasi No.2 Manhemaa, Nana Aboagyewaa Tinkwamaa, has banned the organization of “Sodoɔ” funerals at Kenyasi in the Asutifi North District of the Ahafo Region.

Speaking on the matter, the Manhemaa’s Kyeame, Nana Akua Afriyie, explained that according to traditional custom, a funeral should not be organized for a first child who passes away.

She expressed concern that the practice, which she said was not permitted in the past, has become common in recent times, adding that it is believed to have brought bad omens to the Kenyasi community.

Nana Akua Afriyie consequently warned residents to desist from organizing such funerals, stressing that anyone found violating the ban would face disciplinary action from the Kenyasi No.2 Traditional Council.
