29-Year-Old Woman Arrested for Possession of Narcotics in Tema

The Tema Regional Police Command has arrested a 29-year-old woman, Sophia Amankwa, for possessing suspected narcotic substances. The arrest was made on June 25, 2025, at Dogo Junction near Ada in the Greater Accra Region.

A tipper truck with registration number GW 9768-12 was intercepted, and a substantial quantity of suspected narcotics was retrieved from the vehicle. The seized substances include 3,900 compressed and cello-taped slabs packed in 52 sacks, believed to be Indian hemp.

Preliminary investigations have established that Sophia Amankwa is the owner of the seized substances. She is currently in police custody, assisting with further investigations. The police have launched a manhunt for the driver of the vehicle and other possible accomplices.

The Tema Regional Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying efforts against drug trafficking and related offenses across the region.
