HOUSE-TO-HOUSE ENCOURAGEMENT: Dichemso M/A School Moves To Boost Student Attendance After Strike Suspension
Teachers of Dichemso M/A School have embarked on a house-to-house campaign to encourage pupils to return to the classroom following the suspension of the nationwide industrial action by teacher unions.
The Headmistress of the school, Madam Helena Amponsah, who disclosed this to Adom News, said teachers fully reported to school on the first day after the strike was called off, but pupil attendance remained low.
“We have 30 pupils in Form One, but only 16 reported to school. We hope the others will return in the coming days,” she said.
According to Madam Amponsah, the low turnout prompted teachers to move into the Dichemso community to engage parents and guardians to release their wards to return to school.
To mitigate the impact of the lost contact hours, the school has introduced extra classes and extended teaching hours. She noted that special lessons will be organized for Form Three students to enable them to catch up with the syllabus before completion.
She also expressed gratitude to the leadership of the teacher unions for their relentless advocacy in improving conditions of service for teachers.
The school is appealing to parents and guardians in the Dichemso suburb and surrounding communities to ensure their children return to school immediately to benefit from the recovery interventions.
