“WOMEN ARE THE CARETAKERS OF THE FAMILY, SO EVERY WOMAN MUST EXAMINE HER BREASTS THIS MONTH” — QUEEN MOTHER OF ABI
By Dominic Duut – Berekum
The Queen Mother of Abi in Berekum, Nana Afiah Ankamah Bema III, has urged all women to visit the hospital for proper breast examination as October marks Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
According to her, women are the caretakers and pillars of every family, hence the need for regular screening to stay healthy.
She appealed to all women to undertake the examination, noting that most women are single parents taking care of their families, and if sickness attacks them unexpectedly, those who depend on them will suffer.
In a related development, Nana Afiah Ankamah Bema expressed gratitude to all responsible parents who are taking good care of their wards.
She advised students, particularly those in Junior and Senior High Schools, to learn and study hard, as their parents are spending a lot of money on chop boxes, trunks, books, and other expensive items to secure a brighter future for them.
She charged them to study diligently, excel in their examinations, and make their parents proud.
She further cautioned students to limit their time on social media and focus more on their studies.
For those who could not pursue formal education, she encouraged them to acquire vocational skills such as hairdressing, sewing, plumbing, and other trades to become self-employed.
Finally, on behalf of Nana Oppong Taah Senti and his elders, Nana Afiah Ankamah Bema appealed to all Berekum citizens, both home and abroad, that this year’s Yam Festival celebration is scheduled for 6th November at exactly 12:00 pm.
She therefore called on everyone to join them to make the Yam Festival a success.
