National Sanitation Day: Mpatuam Chief, Assembly Member Hold Clean-Up Exercise, Appeal For Road Improvement, Electricity Extension And Commissioning Of Police Station

The Chief of Mpatuam, Nana Asamoah Tiah I, and the Assembly Member for the Mpatuam West Electoral Area, Hon. Michael Sakyi, together with residents, have appealed to the government to improve the road network, extend electricity supply and commission the police station constructed by the community.

The appeal was made during the National Sanitation Day clean-up exercise at Manso Mpatuam in the Amansie West District of the Ashanti Region.

The exercise brought together community leaders, residents and other stakeholders to clean the community and promote proper sanitation.

The Mpatuamhene, Nana Asamoah Tiah I, said the community is committed to improving sanitation and contributing to its own development, but needs government support to address some of its major challenges.

He expressed concern about the deplorable condition of roads in the community, saying the situation is affecting movement and creating security concerns for residents.

According to him, the poor road network has contributed to difficulties in accessing some parts of the community, while residents have also faced attacks by armed robbers.

He therefore appealed to the government to improve the roads to facilitate movement and enhance security.

He also expressed concern about inconsistent electricity supply, saying some residents continue to experience challenges with their power supply. He called for an additional transformer and an extension of electricity to areas that require improved supply.

Nana Asamoah Tiah I further appealed to the authorities to commission and operationalise the police station constructed by the community.

He said the community has done its part by providing the facility and is now awaiting its commissioning to enable the police to begin operating from the station and help strengthen security.

On his part, the Assembly Member for the Mpatuam West Electoral Area, Hon. Michael Sakyi, appealed to the government to support the community’s ongoing development initiatives.

He said the community has already started constructing gutters as part of efforts towards road expansion, but needs government support, including cement and financial assistance, to complete the project.

He also appealed for electricity extension to areas that are not adequately covered by the existing power supply.

He reiterated the call for the commissioning and opening of the police station constructed by the community, saying its operationalisation would help improve security and give residents better access to police services.
