BONO EAST: SISOs Appeal To GES For Timely Release Of Allowances And Logistics For Effective Supervision
The Conference of School Improvement Support Officers (CoSISO) is appealing to the Government of Ghana, the Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service (GES) to ensure the timely release of their allowances and logistics to improve effective supervision in schools.
The Bono East Regional branch of the Association made the appeal during its 2nd General Congress held in Techiman under the theme: “Strategic and Innovative Ways to Improve Learning Outcomes in Our Districts.”
The colourful event brought together over ninety (90) SISOs, formerly known as Circuit Supervisors, from all eleven (11) Municipalities and Districts in the Bono East Region, along with a host of dignitaries in the education sector.
Speaking in an interview with the media, Mr. James Darko, the National Secretary of the Conference of School Improvement Support Officers, noted that there is an allowance known as “Local Travels” which is supposed to be disbursed to SISOs to cater for their movement to schools. He lamented that despite the high risk involved in their job, the monies are not released on time.
Reacting to the concerns of the SISOs, Rev. Canon Kingsley Dwamena Asante, the Bono East Regional Director of Ghana Education Service, assured them of resolution to their challenges and advised them to discharge their duties diligently.
Finally, Ms. Doris Asutane Apangao, the Bono East Regional Chairperson of CoSISO, on behalf of all the other newly elected executives, pledged to serve the welfare and progress of all members in order to make education better.
