Lawra Municipal Assembly’s Environmental Unit Urged To Act Over Dumping Of Expired Drinks Near MCE’s Residence

The Environmental Health and Sanitation Unit of the Lawra Municipal Assembly has been called upon to wake up and act immediately over the indiscriminate dumping of expired plastic mineral bottle drinks in the municipality.

According to information gathered, the forest around the Municipal Chief Executive’s residence has for some time now turned into a dumping ground for expired bottled drinks.

The situation has taken a worrying turn, as school children have discovered the dumped products and have since yesterday, 28th September, 2026, been picking and consuming them following a large quantity disposal by an unidentified shop in the town.

Residents say a similar incident occurred some time ago, which was identified and the expired drinks were destroyed.

They are therefore calling on the Environmental Health Department, in collaboration with the Police and the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), to as a matter of urgency visit shops in Lawra township, confiscate such expired drinks and dispose of them properly to avert any health danger to children and the public.

They warn that failure to act swiftly could result in serious health implications for unsuspecting consumers, especially school children.
