NHIA Urges Providers to Avoid Illegal Charges, Uphold Quality Care
The Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Dr. Victor Asare Bampoe, has expressed gratitude to staff of the NHIA in Dormaa West for their contribution to the success of the scheme.
He urged staff to remain responsive, solution-oriented and treat NHIS members with dignity and empathy. Dr. Bampoe made the call during the commissioning of the NHIA’s new Dormaa West office at Nkrankwanta.
He also urged healthcare providers to protect NHIS members by avoiding illegal charges and co-payments while ensuring quality care. He stressed the need to uphold the NHIS promise to Ghanaians every day and in every community.
Dr. Bampoe further urged NHIS members whose membership is inactive to dial *929# to reactivate their membership. He also encouraged members to update their contact details at the nearest NHIA office to help build a stronger and more responsive NHIS.

The Dormaa West Member of Parliament, Hon. Vincent Oppong Asamoah, expressed gratitude to the NHIA CEO for his contribution towards the construction of the new office. He said Dormaa West has benefited from the government’s Reset Agenda and appealed to the NHIA to replace the district’s vehicle, which he said is over 10 years old, to support staff mobility and public sensitisation.
The MP also disclosed that he had written to the NHIA seeking the establishment of a claims centre in the Bono Region to reduce the need for providers to travel to the Ashanti Region to process claims
The Dormaa West District Chief Executive, Hon. Stephen Azorba Awuni, said the NHIA had operated in Dormaa West for more than a decade from an Area Council office secured through the efforts of the MP.
He commended Hon. Vincent Oppong Asamoah for his contribution towards the construction of the new NHIA office and commitment to development in the district.
