E/R: Four Dead, Several Injured In Collision At Anyinasin Junction On Accra-Kumasi Highway

Akyem Anyinasin, Eastern Region – Four people have reportedly died with several others sustaining varying degrees of injuries in a gory head-on collision at Anyinasin Junction on the Accra-Kumasi Highway in the Eastern Region.

The fatal accident which occurred at about 5:30 a.m. today, Sunday, September 28, 2026, involved a Toyota Voxy van with registration number *GT 9430-26* and a trailer with registration number *GS 4064-26*.

According to preliminary reports, two Voxy vans were allegedly overtaking each other at top speed when one of them collided head-on with the oncoming trailer, resulting in the devastating crash.

Eyewitnesses say the impact of the collision was severe, leaving the Voxy van completely mangled.

The bodies of the deceased have been conveyed to the Kyebi Government Hospital morgue for preservation and identification, while the injured victims are currently receiving medical attention at the same facility.

Police from the Kibi District Police Command have visited the scene and have since commenced investigations to establish the full circumstances surrounding the accident.

Meanwhile, the police have cautioned drivers plying the Accra-Kumasi Highway, especially at the Anyinasin stretch, to exercise extreme caution and avoid wrongful overtaking.
