Woman Arrested for Allegedly Stabbing Ex-Boyfriend in Sowutuom
A 29-year-old woman, Augustina Adoma, has been arrested by the Ghana Police Service for allegedly stabbing her ex-boyfriend, 30-year-old Emmanuel Otabil, following a heated altercation in Sowutuom, a suburb of Accra.
According to a police statement released on July 2, 2025, the incident occurred on June 26, 2025, after Adoma encountered Otabil with another woman at his residence.
In a fit of rage, she allegedly poured water on the pair and seized Otabil’s Samsung mobile phone. Later that afternoon, Adoma returned to Otabil’s kiosk while he was away and set fire to personal items, including a mattress, carpet, blankets, and bedsheets, using a duplicate key.
When Otabil returned home and confronted Adoma about the damage, a confrontation ensued.
During the dispute, Adoma allegedly grabbed a knife from a nearby orange seller and stabbed Otabil in the left side of his chest.
Otabil was immediately rushed to the University of Ghana Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery and is currently receiving treatment in stable condition.
The police arrested Adoma after investigations revealed her involvement in the incident.
She was picked up at the Tesano Police Station, where she had gone to submit a medical report related to a separate assault complaint she had filed against Otabil.
Adoma is currently in custody and assisting the police with their investigation.
The Accra Regional Police Command has cautioned the public against taking the law into their own hands, particularly in domestic and relationship-related conflicts.
The police emphasize that the law provides proper channels for resolving grievances, and individuals should not resort to violence.
