Woman Accused of Abducting 11-Month-Old Baby Ordered to Undergo Mental Health Assessment
The Mankessim Circuit Court has ordered Rebecca Ofori, a 40-year-old woman accused of abducting an 11-month-old baby from Ajumako Market Centre, to undergo a mental health assessment at Ankaful Psychiatric Hospital.
The decision was made by Justice Gloria Naa Bortoh Laryea due to concerns about Ofori’s mental stability.
Ofori allegedly took the baby under false pretenses, as captured on CCTV footage, and transported the child to Tarkwa Benso, where she was later arrested.
The case has raised concerns about the mental health of the accused and its potential impact on her actions.
The court has adjourned the case to July 29, 2025, pending the outcome of the mental health assessment.
The assessment will help determine Ofori’s mental fitness and potential implications for her trial.
