Wa: Army Commander Express Repugnance Over What he Saw infront of MTN Office

The Upper West Regional Military Commander (Hippos) Lieutenant Colonel Obrempong Kodua has tagged the quantity of waste engulfed in the heart of Wa Metropolis as an off-putting Security Threat that needs to be attended to with urgency.

The Commander Made reference to gutters in front of prominent private institutions including MTN Ghana’s Upper West Regional Office.

The Commander Spoke during a media Engagement with the Regional Police on the 1st of August 2025 at the Upper West Regional Police Headquarters.

“I must make an Appeal to the media, There is one thing, you don’t see it as a threat but I think you can use your platforms to work on it, Sanitation, it has been my concern and what role is the media playing in it, it’s a threat especially from the Traffic, Kejetia to the next traffic, just check where MTN Office is, that Gutter, the Municipality initiated some cleaning exercise , after cleaning it, those refuse have been lying by the streets up till date, what is the media doing, haven’t you seen it, is it only the shooting you saw, check the main road, indiscipline, it’s a security threat, the Municipality, the Region is not clean, I wish you hammer on it, I’m so passionate with it, there are polythene bags everywhere , look at the nature of our roads now, the gutters are blocked when it rains refuse are over the streets, look at the potholes it’s creating, can’t it cause an accident..”

He also assured that they have been monitoring issues and haven’t recorded anything bad interfering with the Peace of Upper West Region.
