Upper West Regional Police Command Secures Conviction of Notorious Armed Robber
The Upper West Regional Police Command has achieved a significant milestone in its efforts to combat crime, securing the conviction of a notorious armed robber, Adinan Mahmoud, alias Okra. Mahmoud, 25 years old, was found guilty of conspiracy to commit crime, robbery, and wit robbery, and has been sentenced to 18 years imprisonment in hard labor.

According to a press release issued by the Public Affairs Directorate of the Upper West Region, Mahmoud’s arrest was the result of intensive intelligence-led operations carried out by the Regional Police Intelligence Directorate.

He was apprehended on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at his hideout in Sandemuni, a suburb of the Wa Municipal, after being on the police’s wanted list for a series of robberies in the region.
On Monday, June 2, 2025, Mahmoud was arraigned before the Wa Circuit Court, presided over by His Honor Jonathan Avoogo, where he pleaded guilty to the charges brought against him.
His two accomplices, Abdulai Ibrahim alias Baba, and Abdulai Kipo, pleaded not guilty and have been remanded into prison custody to continue their trial on Tuesday, June 3, 2025.
