U/W: Centre for National Culture Pleads for Government Support

The Upper West Centre for National Culture has highlighted the challenges it faces in its operations, particularly with regards to infrastructure, during a recent media engagement.

The Centre’s Regional Administrator, Chief Seidu Bomison, revealed that the lack of a suitable office space is a major obstacle hindering the Centre’s ability to fulfill its mandate.

The Centre currently operates from the first floor of Ministry Block B, which is inadequate for its needs.

A 1,500-seat multipurpose theatre adjacent to the Wa Airport building has been under construction since 2008, but progress has stalled.

The Centre had previously operated from the Wa Airport building, but was relocated.

The Upper West Centre for National Culture is appealing to the government to consider its vital role in preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of the Upper West Region.

The Centre’s management believes that relocating to a suitable office infrastructure would enable it to effectively deliver on its mandate and support the region’s cultural development.

The media engagement was attended by key officials, including the Regional Director, Human Resource Lead, Administrator, Head of Programs, and the regional PRO/District Director for Nadowli-Kaleo.

The Centre’s plea to the government is expected to draw attention to the need for support in addressing its infrastructure challenges.
