Two Killed, One in Critical Condition in Mpasaaso Gang Clash
A violent clash between rival gangs has rocked Mpasaaso No 1 and its surrounding communities in the Ahafo Ano South-West District of the Ashanti Region, leaving two young men dead and one person in critical condition.
The deceased have been identified as Kofi Asiamah and Emmanuel Akugoru, a native of Bawku.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred when Asiamah was attacked and brutally killed by a gang led by Clement Agya, also known as Dealer, from Ampabame Number One.
Akugoru was later killed in a retaliatory attack at Aboabo, near Ampabame Number One.
The Assemblyman for Krofofrom, Addai Dwomoh Bismark, confirmed the incident and expressed fears that the violence could escalate, leading to more bloodshed.
The assemblyman revealed that Asiamah had previously reported threats to his life from Clement Agya, but when he advised Asiamah to report the matter to the police, it fell on deaf ears.
Residents are now calling for immediate police protection, citing the authorities’ inaction despite numerous complaints.
The situation has led to fear and uncertainty in the community, with farmers staying away from their farms and students too terrified to attend school.
The police have been urged to take swift action to prevent further violence and bring the perpetrators to justice.
The Regional Security Council (REGSEC) and the Inspector General of Police have been appealed to step in and restore peace in the troubled community.
As the investigation continues, residents are demanding justice for the victims and their families, and calling for an end to the violence that has plagued Mpasaaso for far too long.
