Two men have been arrested in Nyamira County, Kenya, after a shocking viral video surfaced showing them viciously assaulting a man suspected of stealing chickens before throwing him into a burning fire.
The horrifying act took place on Saturday, July 26, 2025, in Matongo, Nyamira North. The suspects, identified as James Nyang’au Kieri and Evans Nyang’au Anyoka, were caught on camera ruthlessly beating the victim and setting him on fire.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) confirmed their arrest on Wednesday, July 30, following a detailed forensic investigation that led to their capture. The suspects are now in custody and are expected to be arraigned soon.
Reacting to the incident, the National Police Service (NPS) condemned the act and raised alarm over the surge in mob justice cases, warning the public to refrain from taking the law into their own hands.
“Mob justice is a dangerous threat to public safety and justice. The public must trust legal processes to handle alleged crimes,” the NPS emphasized. Change only headline
