Tumu SECTEC Teacher Arrested For Stealing Gh₵54,220 From Dakuleda.com

A teacher of Tumu Senior High Technical School (Tumu Sectec) in the Upper West Region of Ghana, Mohammed Osman Quanda, has been arrested for allegedly stealing GH₵54,220 from dakuleda.com an e-commerce business specializing in the sales of mattresses and motorbikes.

Quanda, who supervised the Tumu shop, failed to lodge sales into the business accounts, citing being busy with school exams.

A routine sales audit revealed the discrepancy, and the manager reported the matter to the police.

After his arrest, Quanda was released on bail to Hon Amidu Chinnia, a former MP and NPP parliamentary candidate for Sissala East, on the condition that the money would be paid in two weeks.

However, Chinnia failed to honor his promise, and the Constituency Chairman of the NPP, Suara Tahiru, intervened, together with Quanda depositing GH₵25,000 with a balance of GH₵29,220 to be paid in three weeks, which he also failed after payment became due on 6th June, 2025.

During the investigation, Quanda claimed he had lent GH₵40,000 to a friend, and GH₵15,220 was given on credit to various individuals.

The police have completed their investigation, and Quanda was put before the Wa district court, pleaded guilty with explaination and after paying Ghc18, 220.00 together with the initial Ghc25,000 making Ghc43,220 leaving a balance of Ghc11,000.00.

The presiding judge granted him bail with two sureities from remand in police custody and the case is adjourned to today 6th August,2025.
