Atwima Nwabiagya South on a Developmental Rise: MCE Wisdom Osei Boamah Unleashes Bold Infrastructure and Social Renewal Agenda

The Municipal Chief Executive for Atwima Nwabiagya South, Hon. Wisdom Osei Boamah, has unveiled a sweeping catalogue of transformative interventions aimed at reshaping the socio-economic landscape of the municipality.

From extensive road rehabilitation to strategic investment in education, health, and water systems, the MCE says his leadership is steering a new era of progress for residents.

Addressing the media, Hon. Boamah highlighted the dramatic upgrades in road infrastructure as one of his most notable achievements.

He revealed that 19 kilometres of the Ntabanu–19 Junction–Akuapem stretch have been completely reshaped, with contractors currently mobilized to tar the road before the year ends.

He added that the 5.5-kilometre Atwima Agogo–Maakro to Twedie route has undergone reshaping twice to ensure durability and smooth transportation.

Key community roads—including the Abuakwa Housing link road to Kumasi and the Abuakwa Kenya road—have also been given a facelift, easing traffic flow and boosting local commerce.

Commenting on flood management, the MCE explained that the municipality previously battled severe flooding due to choked drains and blocked bridges.

However, through an aggressive dredging operation using high-capacity machinery, all major drainage systems were cleared last year. This intervention, he said, has completely eliminated the annual flood menace, bringing relief to residents.

In education, Hon. Boamah disclosed that significant resources from the District Common Fund have been channeled into infrastructure works at Amoabeng, Bankyease, and Abuakwa Division schools, all slated for completion within six months.

He announced further that the assembly has entered a five-year MOU with WASH, which is delivering modern, hygienic toilet complexes to selected schools such as Kufuor Experimental, Sepase, Nerebehi, and Abuakwa Manhyia.

The partnership is also providing mechanized boreholes to boost access to safe water in schools and surrounding communities.

The health sector is also receiving a boost with the construction of new facilities at Atwima Agogo and Mim Garages, both expected to be completed within six months.

In addition, a modern slaughterhouse is under construction at Nkawie, projected to be ready in three months to enhance meat hygiene and public health standards.

Touching on sanitation, the MCE said the assembly continues to champion community clean-up campaigns while rolling out twenty mechanized boreholes across various communities—an initiative aimed at expanding access to potable water within the next six months.

Hon. Wisdom Osei Boamah affirmed that the assembly remains steadfast in delivering inclusive development, emphasizing that these bold projects reflect a leadership committed to elevating the municipality to a new level of excellence.
