A devastating accident occurred at Suame Maakro in the Ashanti Region, where a trailer loaded with soya beans ran over an okada rider, killing him instantly.

The victim, believed to be 27 years old, was reportedly mutilated by the vehicle.

Eyewitnesses say the trailer, with registration GT-1963-13, hooked the rider while he was riding beside the truck, trapping him underneath.

Residents blame the ongoing road construction in the area for making the roads hazardous, contributing to frequent accidents.

“This is not the first time. We have seen dozens of accidents here, but this time, sadly, a life has been lost,” a resident said, calling for the completion of the road work to prevent more tragedies.
