Traffic Chaos in Kumasi: Two Billboards Fall Due to Storm.

Heavy vehicle traffic has mounted at the Santasi-Adum stretch in Kumasi due to the fall of two separate billboards. The incident occurred as a result of a heavy downpour accompanied by strong winds that hit the city.

One of the billboards fell at Star Junction, adjacent to the Allied Filling Station, completely blocking the adjoining road from the Christian Service University College. This has caused significant disruptions to traffic flow in the area.

A long billboard also fell at the Santasi Roundabout, blocking the entire intersection and causing huge vehicular traffic congestion. The situation has sent shockwaves among commuters and road users, highlighting concerns about road safety.

The incident has raised questions about the safety of billboard installations in the city. The Ashanti regional deputy planning manager of the NRSA, Samuel Gyimah, had previously cautioned against the wrongful mounting of billboards on roads, citing potential safety risks.

The heavy downpour that led to the billboard collapse has also caused flooding in some parts of the Kumasi metropolis, with about 120 minutes of precipitation affecting several areas.

Commuters are advised to exercise caution and plan their routes accordingly.
