The Importers & Exportors Associatiin of Ghana has added its voice of the need for efficiency at all payment points in the Ghanaian Ports to swiftly facilitate businesses.
The Comes after concerns being raised by the industry players of the delays due to an addition to the Ghana Customs Integrated System (ICUMS) from about 57 pay points to over 200 pay points.
The temporal delays have affected some operations at the port but the Importers and Exporters Association of Ghana says it is expecting a robust system with the coming on stream of the second digital system Centre in Kumasi by the system providers.
According to the stakeholders in the industry, the association says with a first hand information of the digital Centre , its expecting nothing but efficiency with that Centre is added and migrated onto the existing one.
The Executive Secretary, Importer’s & Exporters Association of Ghana, Sampson Awingobit Asaki is urging the system providers to ensure that the October assurance is abide by, and all things being equal, by 2025 November, the Centre must be up and running.
Mr Asaki is also urging members to look at some alternative arrangement in order not to incur debts in their operation but doing night operations and shifts.
