Six Persons, Including Infant, Hit by Stray Bullets in Kwabenakwa

A disturbing incident occurred at Kwabenakwa in the Obuasi East Municipality of the Ashanti Region, where six people, including a less-than-a-year-old baby, were hit by stray bullets.

The incident happened after a family involved in a chieftaincy dispute celebrated a court ruling in their favor, with one of the family members, identified as Kofi Cole, allegedly firing gunshots in the air.

According to eyewitnesses, Cole, who is a relative of one of the winning families, mobilized some relatives and boarded a tricycle to jubilate after hearing the verdict.

During the celebration, celebratory gunfire was discharged, and stray bullets hit six innocent people, including the infant.

The victims were rushed to the hospital, where four were treated and discharged, while a mother and her baby were referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for further treatment. The suspect, Kofi Cole, remains at large.

The Assembly member for Kwabenakwa, Charles Abu, provided details about the incident and his initial response. The police are currently investigating the matter.
