“Salaga-South MP Shows Compassion After Devastating Fire”
In a poignant display of empathy and leadership, Hon. Hajia Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah, the Member of Parliament for Salaga-South Constituency, visited the victims of the tragic fire that ravaged the home of Mr. Osman Harazimu in Salaga on Thursday, 18th September 2025.
The fire, which caused extensive damage, left families devastated and struggling to cope with the aftermath.
Hon. Ibrahimah’s visit brought much-needed hope and support to the affected families during their time of crisis.
“I am deeply saddened by the tragic loss these families have experienced,” the MP remarked during her visit.
“My heart goes out to each and every one of you. My thoughts and prayers are with you, and I want you to know that I will do everything in my power to support you as you rebuild your lives.
” Her words resonated deeply with the victims, offering them not just sympathy but also tangible aid to help ease their suffering.
The fire destroyed Mr. Harazimu’s home and several other properties, leaving the residents with little to salvage. The incident could have been mitigated had the municipal i fire service been able to respond in time.
However, the MP expressed her shock and disappointment upon learning that the Municipal Fire Tender, which was meant to respond to such emergencies, was not operational when it was needed most.
“When I heard the news, I was in disbelief. My office had released an amount of GHC 9,000 just last month to support the servicing and maintenance of the fire tender.
It is truly surprising and disappointing to learn that it wasn’t operational when the community needed it most,” she remarked.
“I believe we must take immediate action to address this issue.”
Determined to prevent such a situation from occurring again, the MP assured the community that she would personally oversee the repair and servicing of the fire tender, ensuring that it is fully operational and ready to serve the people of Salaga-South in future emergencies.
“The safety and wellbeing of our municipality is my top priority. I will ensure that this fire tender is up and running as quickly as possible,” she pledged.
Hon. Hajia Zuwera also expressed her commitment to helping the victims recover from the devastating fire.
As part of her immediate support, she donated GHC 5,000 to assist with urgent relief efforts. In addition to the cash donation, she pledged to provide 100 bags of cement and 10 trips of sand to help the affected households rebuild their homes.
These materials will be invaluable in restoring the homes and livelihoods of those impacted by the fire.
“I know the road to recovery will not be easy, but you are not alone in this journey. Together, we will rebuild, and I will continue to fight for more support to strengthen our municipality in the future,” Hon. Hajia Zuwera reassured the victims.
Her actions have been met with widespread praise from the community, who are grateful for her leadership and genuine concern.
Many are hopeful that her proactive approach will lead to lasting improvements, particularly in strengthening emergency response systems and ensuring the safety of the constituents she represents.
The visit, marked by both compassionate words and substantial assistance, reinforced Hon. Hajia Zuwera’s dedication to her people.
It highlighted her commitment not just in times of prosperity, but especially in moments of crisis- when effective leadership and heartfelt action can make all the difference.
