Project Women, Culture for Ghana’s Development, Hon.Dr.Fred Kyei urges.

The chairman on chieftaincy, culture and religious affairs, who doubles as MP for Offinso North, Dr Fred Kyei Asamoah has stated clearly that, the time to project women and culture to bring about massive development for Ghana is now.

He explained that, women now form the greater percentage of Ghana’s population, yet their mostly left out in decision making especially when it comes to occupying higher positions at the work places which includes Parliament where only four ( 4 ) women are occupying committee chairperson’s positions out of fourty one committees ( 41 ) .

He said, as a committee chair, he would carry along his members to use such great committee to push for the betterment of women in our society in order to improve and promote Ghana’s culture to world just as some countries such as Moroco, Dubai and others has been able to promote their culture to the world .

Also, the deputy ranking member on the committee , Mr Richard Kwami Sefe added that , it is long overdue for women to be empowered just as men especially when it comes to our chieftaincy matters where only men are mostly permitted to take decisions.

He added that, as women now form the greater percentage of our population, they should be given the opportunity in society just as men.

These comments came up when the committee met to consider the annual reports of national theater of Ghana and centre for national culture for the year 2024 and also adopt strategies in empowering women and how to improve Ghana’s culture.
