According to a letter addressed to the President of the Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana (TTAG), PRINCOF cited the difficulty in sustaining the provision of three meals per day within the current allocation of GHS 8.00 per trainee.

The conference noted that efforts to persuade TTAG to increase the daily rate to a reasonable amount for students to contribute to the colleges for feeding have been unsuccessful over the years.

As a result, PRINCOF has resolved to implement an adjustment to the current feeding arrangement, effective June 16, 2025. Teacher trainees residing on campus will be provided with one hot meal daily, down from the previous three meals per day.

This decision aims to safeguard essential services while ensuring that at least one nutritious meal is provided daily.

PRINCOF acknowledged the importance of adequate nutrition to trainee welfare and academic performance but emphasized the need to ensure that feeding arrangements are realistic and within the institutions’ financial capacity.

The present strain on college budgets is significant, and this measure is aimed at addressing the financial unsustainability of the current model.
