President John Mahama has nominated seven distinguished jurists to fill vacancies at the Supreme Court of Ghana.

The nominees, pending parliamentary approval, are:

– *Justice Senyo Dzamefe*
– *Justice Kweku Tawiah Ackaah-Boafo*
– *Justice Philip Bright Mensah*
– *Justice Janapare Bartels-Kodwo*
– *Justice Hafisata Amaleboba*

According to the 1992 Constitution of Ghana, Supreme Court judges are appointed on the advice of the Judicial Council in consultation with the Council of State and with the approval of Parliament.
These appointments aim to maintain the judiciary’s independence and impartiality.

As a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), President Mahama previously served as President from 2014 to 2017 and was re-elected in 2024, making him the first president in Ghanaian history to be democratically elected to a non-consecutive second term.
