powering persons with disabilities
People with disabilities (PWDs) in Ghana advocate for inclusive governance to ensure their representation and full participation in national development, education, and employment.
They call for their inclusion in government appointments and decision-making processes, demand more accessible infrastructure and educational facilities, and seek support for entrepreneurship and employment opportunities to promote economic self-sufficiency.
These calls are rooted in the recognition that PWDs are significantly underrepresented in decision-making, and their voices are crucial for creating a truly inclusive society where their rights are respected and their needs are addressed.
Speaking at a stakeholders forum organized by ABAK Foundation in kumasi, the gender and social inclusion officer Mrs. Paulina Afognuo Agyei said PWDs should be actively involved in decision-making at all levels of governance, from local assemblies to national development planning, to foster a more representative society.
Mrs. Paulina Afognuo Agyei also said, there should provision of more educational facilities and diverse employment opportunities tailored to the needs of PWDs to enhance their skills and economic participation.
