Police Launch Major Crackdown on Drug Dens in Agona Swedru
The Agona Swedru District Police Command has launched a bold operation to curb rising drug abuse and criminal activities in the Agona West Municipality.
In a raid conducted earlier today, police set over 30 ghettos ablaze, arresting several suspects believed to be involved in drug dealing.
During the operation, police retrieved a substantial amount of illicit substances, including marijuana, tramadol, and other dangerous drugs. The police also seized cigarettes and dangerous weapons, highlighting the potential for violence in these areas.
While some suspects managed to flee during the raid, several were apprehended and are currently assisting with ongoing investigations.
The Agona Swedru District Police Commander, ASP Vida Yankey, emphasized that the exercise is part of a larger strategy to rid the municipality of drug dens and restore law and order.
Residents have lauded the efforts of the police, calling for more sustained operations to ensure lasting peace and safety in the area. This operation demonstrates the police’s commitment to tackling drug abuse and crime in the community.
