Okomfour Kwadee to lead a campaign against substance abuse in Kumasi.

The renowned Kumasi-based Ghanaian hiplife artiste, Okomfour Kwadee, would later this month lead a campaign against substance abuse in the Ashanti Region.

The artiste who is himself recovering from substance abuse, has decided to lead the campaign to educate the youth on the negative effects of drug abuse in their repercussions on society.

Born Jerry Anaabaa, Okomfour Kwadee took the musical industry with a bang in the early 2000 with lingual dexterity and storytelling prowess.

His reign in the music industry, however, did not last as he went into oblivion as a result of his addiction to substances.

Campaign

Dubbed “Ghana against the abuse of RED Campaign,” it will take a form of float through the principal streets of Kumasi particularly through the Central Business District and end up at the Jubilee Park where there would be a music bash interlaced with drug abuse education.

The campaign under the auspices of Willingway Recovery and Rehabilitation Centre located at Ejisu in the Ashanti Region and is aimed at educating the public, especially the youth on the effects of illicit drugs and the need to stay away from them.

The artiste is currently on rehabilitation at the centre and has seen a tremendous improvement in his mental health

The Chief Executive Officer of the centre, Lydia Abena Manu in an interview with *Oyerepa FM’s Okogyeabour Ocran* said, Willingway had to step in to provide assistance to artiste and help him to regain his mental health and come back to his old self.

So far, she said there has been some improvement and it was this reason that he would be leading the campaign against substance abuse in the region and the country as a whole.

Other artistes and personalities within the showbiz industry scheduled to be part of the campaign include Akosua Agyapong, Kwaku Manu, Funny Face among many others.

Ms Manu called on all stakeholders to join the call against substance abuse and lend their support to the campaign.
