Offinso South Municipal NADMO Steps Up Disaster Preparedness as Dry Season Approaches
The Office of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) is intensifying public education on disaster management as the dry season draws near.
Hon. Wiafe Mohammed, Municipal Director of NADMO, revealed this in an interview with media in Offinso South Municipal during the creating of safety awareness.
He advised residents to take proactive steps to prevent disasters, rather than relying on relief items.

“Let’s focus on preventing disasters, not just preparing for them,” he emphasized.
The Offinso South NADMO has directed it members in the Municipal to help in conducting feasibility studies to disaster-prone areas and develop strategies to mitigate risks.

“Disasters are caused by a combination of natural hazards and human factors, including rapid urbanization, environmental degradation, climate change, poverty, and weak infrastructure,” Hon. Mohammed explained.

Prevention involves strengthening governance, creating early warning systems, educating communities, sustainable land use, and enforcing building codes will help us reduces rapid cases

“We can prevent or reduce disasters with proper planning and diligence,” Hon. Mohammed stressed, urging his team to work effectively to identify and address potential hotspots.
