Offinso North MCE Urges Responsible Tree Cutting and Reforestation.

The Municipal Chief Executive for Offinso North, Hon. Caesar Ofosu Acheampong, has emphasized the importance of sustainable forest management practices in the municipality.

Speaking at the launch of the “Tree of Life” initiative at Akumadan, Hon. Acheampong advised chainsaw operators to obtain the necessary permits and follow legal procedures when cutting down trees in forest reserves.

“We must work together to protect our natural resources and promote sustainable development. By adopting responsible forest management practices, we can ensure the long-term sustainability of our ecosystem and livelihoods,” Hon. Acheampong said.

The MCE also stressed the need for timber operators to adopt reforestation practices, replanting trees to replace those cut down.

This, he said, would help maintain the ecological balance.

Additionally, Hon. Acheampong urged farmers to take proactive measures to prevent bushfires during the Harmattan season, which can have devastating effects on the environment and livelihoods.

The “Tree of Life” initiative aims to promote environmental conservation and sustainable livelihoods in the Offinso North Municipality.

The launch event marked an important step towards achieving these goals and raising awareness about the importance of responsible forest management practices.
