Offinso North: Hon.Dr. Fred Kyei Asamoah Commits GHC 35,000 to Support 2026 BECE Candidates Vacation Classeses
The Member of Parliament for Offinso North, Hon.Dr.Fred Kyei Asamoah, has unveiled a major intervention for improving literacy levels and academic performance among students in the district.
The initiative includes a commitment of GHC 35,000 to fund organized vacation classes for all candidates preparing for the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
The programme will cover all 47 schools in the district, made up of 42 public schools and 5 private institutions.
In total, 1,550 students are expected to benefit from the exercise, including 758 males and 792 females. Of this number, public schools account for 712 male and 741 female candidates, while private schools comprise 46 males and 51 females.
To further encourage academic excellence, Dr. Asamoah has introduced a performance-based reward system.
Candidates who obtain an aggregate of 9 or better in the BECE will receive a cash prize of GHC 3,000 each.
Beyond the classes, the MP has also pledged additional support to ease the burden on students.
Each candidate will receive GHC 50 to cover feeding costs during the period of examination, as well as a mathematical set to aid them.
The programme places strong emphasis on core subjects—Mathematics, English, and Science. Notably, 50 copies have been earmarked for mathematics teachers to enhance teaching and learning.
The programme is expected to boost students’ confidence and significantly improve academic outcomes in the Offinso North District.
