Offinso-Asuboi Community Pleads for Urgent Intervention Over Water and Road Crisis.
The Offinso-Asuboi community in Ghana’s offinso south municipal in the Ashanti Region is facing a dire situation due to the lack of access to clean drinking water and poor road networ.
Abofour Asuboi Community members have revealed that they have to chase away cattle to fetch water from the shared source, highlighting the dire need for a reliable and clean water supply.
The situation is further complicated by the absence of boreholes and piped water, leaving residents with limited options.
The community’s health is at risk, and the prevalence of diarrhea has become a significant concern, with many lives lost due to the lack of access to proper medical care.
The poor state of the road network in the area has also made it challenging to transfer pregnant women to nearby communities for medical care.
The road condition has led to numerous miscarriages in the village, and residents are struggling to access essential healthcare services.
The nearest community with medical facilities is Abofour, which is almost 10 miles away, making it difficult for residents to access timely medical attention.
The community is urging the government and relevant authorities to take immediate action to address the water and road crisis.
They are calling for the provision of portable water and the rehabilitation of the road network to improve access to medical care and other essential services.
In the past, organizations like MoneyGram International have stepped in to provide boreholes to communities in need, such as the one in Asuboi, which had previously suffered from river blindness due to contaminated water sources.
This issue is not unique to Offinso-Asuboi, as other communities in Ghana face similar challenges.
The Offinso-Asuboi community’s plight serves as a reminder of the need for sustained efforts to improve access to clean water, healthcare, and infrastructure in rural communities across Ghana.
