Obuasi Anyinam Gets New Chief After 12-Year Vacancy
The people of Anyinam in Obuasi have finally installed a new chief, Nana Okyere Amoabeng II, after a 12-year vacancy. The new chief was enskinned by the family head, Nana Kwamoah Bosompem, and has pledged to drive development in the town.
Nana Okyere Amoabeng II attributed the town’s stagnation to the prolonged chiefless period, citing limited access to job opportunities at the nearby AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi mine. Despite this, he contributed to the town’s development by helping establish a community center.

new chief outlined plans to modernize the town’s outdated market and seek assistance from AngloGold Ashanti to spur development. He expressed optimism that his installation would usher in a new era of progress for Anyinam.
Assembly Member Hon. Solomon Amoako Acheampong welcomed the new chief, hoping he would attract projects to the community. He noted that Anyinam would have benefited from more development initiatives if a chief had been installed earlier.
