NPP’s Chairman Wontumi Arrested by EOCO.
The Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) has taken into custody Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The arrest occurred shortly after he left the CID headquarters in Accra.

According to NPP’s Ashanti Regional Communications Director, Paul Yandoh, Chairman Wontumi is being held at EOCO and has been denied access to his legal team.
His lawyer, Andy Appiah-Kubi, was prevented from accompanying him.

The reasons behind Chairman Wontumi’s arrest are not yet clear.
However, he had previously been questioned by the CID over alleged involvement in illegal mining activities, including mining in forest reserves and protected areas without authorization.
