NPP Slams Mahama Government Over Teacher Trainee Feeding Arrangements

The Ashanti Regional Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Paul Yandoh, has criticized the Mahama-led National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration for allegedly reducing the number of meals provided to teacher trainees from three to one per day.

Mr.paul.Yandoh stated that the welfare of trainees has declined significantly compared to the previous government, with trainees paying double the fees at Teacher Training Colleges like St. Louis College of Education.

According to Yandoh, the current economic conditions are causing hardship, especially among students and young people, contradicting the government’s claims of reduced inflation and improved cost of living.

The NPP communicator urged Ghanaians to be aware of the realities on the ground.

The reduction in meals is reportedly due to financial constraints, as the Conference of Principals of Colleges of Education (PRINCOF) stated that the current GH¢8 daily allocation is no longer viable.

This decision has sparked concerns about the government’s commitment to trainee welfare.
