NPP Ashanti Parliamentary Caucus Raises Alarm Over Rising Insecurity in Ashanti Region

The NPP Ashanti Parliamentary Caucus has expressed deep concern over a recent surge in violent crimes in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.

In a statement issued on July 26, 2025, the caucus highlighted the brutal murder of the Kusasi Chief of Asawase and the killing of his brother as incidents that underscore a dangerous trend threatening the safety of law-abiding citizens.

The caucus is demanding protection, swift justice, and a responsive state for all Ghanaians, emphasizing that the growing sense of insecurity in the region must be addressed without delay.

They have called on the Ashanti Regional Security Council to enhance its response to the situation and urged the Inspector General of Police to treat these killings with the urgency they warrant.

Specific actions requested by the caucus include:

1. A full criminal investigation into the recent murders with timely updates to the public.

2. Deployment of adequate police personnel and intelligence to safeguard vulnerable communities.

3. A clear commitment from the Ministry of the Interior and the Police Service on measures to prevent further violence.

The statement, signed by Hon. Vincent Ekow Assafuah (Secretary) and Hon. Kwame Anyimadu-Antwi (Chairman), stresses that ensuring the safety of citizens is a fundamental duty of the state.

The caucus vows to continue raising its voice on the issue, prioritizing the people’s safety over political considerations.
