MoH Hosts Forum to Strengthen Community Health Systems for Universal Coverage
The Ministry of Health (MoH) has launched a three-day forum aimed at achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) through stronger community health systems.

The initiative focuses on enhancing the Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) program, Ghana’s primary care system foundation.

The forum, themed “Achieving Universal Health Coverage through Strengthened Community Health Systems for Better Health Outcomes,” brings together key stakeholders to discuss the current state of community health, identify gaps, and share best practices.

Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh emphasized the importance of collaboration, innovation, and dialogue in achieving UHC.
He highlighted challenges hindering healthcare accessibility, including limited financial access and inadequate infrastructure, and stressed the need for strategic investments and policy reforms.

The Director General of Africa CDC’s Division of Community Health Systems and Health Promotion underscored the vital role of community health in advancing UHC, describing it as the “heartbeat of our health systems.”
The forum aims to shape actionable strategies and reinforce Ghana’s commitment to delivering health for all, ensuring no one is left behind.
