Minority walkout from Mid-Year Budget Review Over Ablekuma North Election Violence
The Minority in Parliament has boycotted the 2025 mid-year budget review presentation by Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson.
Led by Minority Chief Whip Frank Annoh-Dompreh, the caucus cited the government’s inaction on election violence during the Ablekuma North parliamentary rerun as the reason for their boycott.
The Ablekuma North rerun was marred by disturbances and violence, prompting public concern and calls for accountability.
Despite these incidents, the government has not taken decisive action, leading to the Minority’s protest.
The Minority caucus has demanded that the government takes immediate action to address election violence and ensure the safety of citizens.
By boycotting the budget presentation, they aim to draw attention to their concerns and push for meaningful change.
Following the boycott, the Minority members marched to the Flagstaff House to present a petition to President John Dramani Mahama, highlighting their grievances and seeking redress.
This move underscores the deep-seated concerns within the Minority caucus regarding the government’s response to election violence.
