Mental Health Awareness Takes Center Stage in Offinso South Municipality

Abofour Kyebi, Ghana – November 27, 2024.In a significant step towards promoting mental health awareness among students, the MICHEAL KYEI BAFFOUR Psychiatric Mental Health Unit at Abofour Health Center conducted a mental health presentation at Abofour Kyebi M/A Junior High School today.

The engaging session, which drew approximately 100 students, focused on mental health, drug abuse, and its effects on students.

As part of their weekly school mental health awareness program, the unit aims to enhance students’ understanding of mental health issues and substance abuse, while also educating them on how to maintain good mental health within their local communities.

The program’s objective is to reach every school in the municipality and beyond, providing comprehensive mental health education to students.

The presentation is a commendable initiative, and the team is working tirelessly to ensure that students are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the challenges of mental health and substance abuse.

We urge the government to consider supporting mental health initiatives in the country.

Your investment in mental health will go a long way in shaping the future of our children and the nation as a whole.

Let’s work together to prioritize mental health and provide our children with the support they need to thrive.

We appeal to the government to provide the necessary resources and infrastructure to support mental health programs in our hospitals and schools.

Together, we can make a difference and create a brighter future for our children.

With this program, the MICHEAL KYEI BAFFOUR Psychiatric Mental Health Unit is making a positive impact in the lives of students in the Offinso South Municipality.
