Lambussie: Gyirgan Community Bemoan Deteriorating School Condition.
Residents in the Gyirgan community, located in the Kpare Electoral Area of the Lambussie District, have expressed deep frustration over the deteriorating state of their primary school
The situation, they say, is severely undermining the education and future of their children.
A recent rainstorm ripped off the zinc roofing of the school, leaving classrooms exposed to the elements and rendering them unusable.
In addition to the physical damage, the school and the teachers’ quarters remain without electricity, and the institution faces a critical shortage of teaching staff.
Speaking to Info Radio, Mr. Justine Dabuo, a concerned resident, described the area as a rural community with limited amenities, which discourages teachers from accepting postings or staying in the long term.
According to him, the school currently operates with only three teachers for both the Kindergarten (KG), Primary, and Junior High School (JHS) levels.
Justine Bayere, Assemblyman for the Kpare Electoral Area, also expressed serious concern about the declining academic performance of students in the community, particularly in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
He revealed that although he has engaged the District Education Directorate in efforts to secure additional teachers for the school, little progress has been made.
Mr Bayere called on relevant authorities to take urgent action to address the community’s educational challenges, improve infrastructure, and ensure a conducive environment for both teaching and learning
