KOforidua Diocese Receives West Africa Youth Day Cross and Icon

The West Africa Youth Day (Accra 2026) Cross and Icon of Our Lady of Perpetual Help have officially begun their nationwide pilgrimage across Ghana’s Archdioceses and Dioceses.

The Catholic Diocese of Koforidua received the sacred symbols on Saturday, November 22, 2025, in a ceremony led by Rev. Fr. Peter Gregory Oduro Owusu, Chaplain of the Koforidua Diocesan Youth Council.

The event coincided with the Solemnity of Christ the King and the Koforidua Deanery’s climax of the Jubilee Year of Hope.

Rev. Fr. Peter Gregory Oduro Owusu in his brief but inspiring message, encouraged the youth to prepare spiritually, actively, and wholeheartedly for this historic celebration.

He further announced that the Holy Cross and the Icon of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, the central symbols of the pilgrimage, would be carried to selected parishes and deaneries across the Diocese.

This journey, he emphasized, is a call to deeper faith, renewed unity, and strengthened hope as the youth walk together toward the main celebration.

The Cross and Icon will be carried to selected parishes and deaneries across the Diocese, marking a significant spiritual moment in the countdown to the West Africa Youth Day – Accra 2026.

The Diocese officially launched its maiden observance of the West Africa Youth Day, with the pilgrimage serving as a call to deeper faith, unity, and hope among the youth.
