The victim, affiliated with Unity Hall, was part of the Jama Group hired to add excitement to the event. According to eyewitnesses, a confrontation erupted when a group of men believed to be NPP members took money dashed to the Jama Group, leading to a melee involving gunshots and the stabbing.

The injured student is receiving treatment at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
