KMA Orders Halt to Construction Works at Kejetia Blue Light, Confirms Demolition

The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has ordered an immediate halt to all construction and repair works at the Kejetia Blue Light area,In an interview with KMA boss on oyerepa breakfast today 12th june 2025,The KMA boss confirmed his decision to demolish the affected building due to safety concerns.

According to Mayor Ofori-Agyemang, the decision follows thorough structural assessments that revealed the building, which was ravaged by fire, poses a significant threat to public safety and is beyond repair.

“We’ve made a final decision to demolish the affected building at Kejetia Blue Light. All traders must immediately stop any ongoing construction or repair works.

This action is necessary to protect lives and prevent any further damage or risk within the market,” said Mr. Ofori-Agyemang.

Traders operating in the area have been urged to vacate the premises and cooperate with authorities.
The KMA has assured affected vendors that alternative arrangements are being considered to minimize disruptions to their lilivelihood.
