Kennedy Agyapong Creates Stir with Delayed Signature on NPP Peace Pact

A brief moment of drama unfolded at the Alisa Hotel in Accra on Thursday, January 22, 2026, as Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, one of the five New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential aspirants, delayed signing the Peace Pact.

The delay sparked speculation among attendees and media present.

At Alisa hotel, Hon. Agyapong carefully examined the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) before appending his signature.

The NPP Presidential Elections Committee Chairman, Hon Joseph Osei Owusu, and Secretary, William Yamoah, engaged in a brief discussion with Agyapong before he signed the document.

The Peace Pact aims to promote party unity and uphold democratic values ahead of the January 31, 2026, presidential primaries.

All five aspirants, including Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, have since signed the pact.

The NPP has emphasized the importance of unity and peaceful competition among aspirants, and the signing of the Peace Pact is seen as a commitment to these values.
