Increase Cocoa Price By 70 Percent As Your Initial Statement–Cocoa Farmers To Government.
The Ghana National Cocoa Farmers Association (GNACOFA),the preeminent organisation representing over 700,000 Cocoa Farmers across the country have expressed their disagreement to the government of Ghana for the recent increment of producer prices for the 2025/2026 Cocoa Season.
According to the Farmers, the interest of their welfare and motivation to increase production, they recommend a more resilience pricing mechanism that account s for potential currency exchange rate changes.
They also urges the inclusion of a clause to adjust producer prices in response to significant future currency movements to ensure that, the Farmers interests are properly safeguarded.
Again, the government should ensure fairness and stability for the Cocoa farmers ,mitigating potential losses due to currency fluctuations.
They also urging the government to involve them in decision-making to promote Cocoa sector in the country.
They therefore calling on the ministry of finance and the Ghana Cocobod to implement these suggestions to respect and strengthen farmers rights to avert a potential humanitarian crisis.
